At Concord and on Zoom

Speaker:James Clugston will give a talk on the topic “Applying Current Thinking to Define Species in Plants."

The concept of what defines a species is nothing new and the many changes in plant names often leave growers and collectors confused as to why their favourite plants name may have changed. This talk sets to define and outline the current scientific thinking into the definition of species. By providing real world examples in plants, the audience will gain insights into how scientists name species and why their names may change.

James Clugston is a Research Fellow in Cycad Genomics and Conservation at Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment, Western Sydney University.
